So after many attempts in recent weeks, we finally got to try out Rosemarino in Clifton for some highly recommended brunch. We had been turning up on busy Saturdays, on the off chance they would have room, but they had been too full to seat us. This time however we went on a weekday afternoon. It was still relatively busy, but we were able to get a table. Success! I’ve heard a lot about this place in recent months and have seen a lot of yummy looking Instagram posts, so I was expecting wonderful things.
The venue seems quite small at first, just a few tables visible when you walk in with a bar at the rear, but they have a downstairs with lots more seating available. It definitely has an Italian feel to the décor which I liked, as well as the huge windows letting in lots of light. We were shown to a table straight away and ordered some coffee and juice, it wasn’t long before our food order was taken. The staff were very pleasant and efficient, we were not waiting long for our food and drinks to arrive.
I decided to try the Rosemarino Breakfast (£8.50) which came with streaky bacon, sausage, black pudding, poached egg, bubble and squeak, roast mushroom, beans and toasted focaccia. It was quite a big plate of food, which made me very happy. The sausage and bacon were really tasty and I was glad to see black pudding on my plate as this is one of my absolute favourites. The focaccia was lovely and crisp and perfect for dipping the yolk of my poached egg. The bubble and squeak was also very tasty and a nice addition to have on a cooked breakfast.
My husband had the Legendary Tommy’s one pan wonder. This was an epic brunch dish; Bacon, sausage, onions, mushrooms, potatoes, 2 eggs cracked on top, melted cheese & toasted focaccia. I must say I was slightly jealous when they brought it out, it looked very impressive. He really enjoyed it and said that his eggs were also poached perfectly. It really was a mountain of a dish, and he was full to the brim afterwards! I will definitely be having this dish next time, it looked like the perfect greedy girl’s dish!
Overall I really enjoyed it here, it’s a great venue for brunch and the food is really delicious, not surprising they won “best breakfast” and “best Italian” at the Bristol good food awards on numerous occasions. I am glad I visited here, and I am looking forward to returning to try the evening menu.
