A conversation that usually sparks debate between me and my mates is “where are the best breakfast and brunch spots in Bristol?”

It’s a tough question as Bristol is filled with many independent brunch venues, we have everything from quaint little cafes that serve up deliciously picture-perfect dishes and we also have modern diners that offer a more substantial plate of eggs and bacon.

So, whether you are looking to remedy your hangover or just love to start your day with a healthy breakfast, check out my top 5 selection of Bristol’s best breakfast and brunch spots and I’m sure you will find the perfect place for you.

As always guys, please feel free to share your thoughts and let me know your own favourite brunch spots in the comment section!

Bakers and Co – BS7

Located on Gloucester road, this renowned café is a place I return to time and time again. They serve the most perfect smashed avocado on sourdough which you can add all the trimming to if you so desire. They also serve a mean fry up with their own baked beans creation which are just delicious! And if that’s not enough, they also have a delicious selection of freshly baked cakes and pastries. Seriously yum!

Spoke and stringer – BS1

I really don’t like to use the phrase “hidden gem” but that is what it is people!  Located off the beaten track on floating harbour, next to the old gas works. This place comes with stunning views, especially in the spring and summer months.  It’s a small café that also doubles up as a surf shop. They have a great menu in the day if you love a good brunch.  In the evening, they serve pintos.  All ingredients are locally sourced which I love and they really know how to put together a great plate of food!

Rosemarino – BS8

Situated in Clifton, Rosemarino serve a lovely breakfast and brunch menu all week long.  I have had the famous one pot wonder (great if you’re a greedy girl like me) and I have sampled their cooked breakfast, both were huge portions and came with really tasty ingredients. You certainly leave this place feeling full and satisfied!  I recommend booking early with these guys as they are very popular, especially on the weekend.

Primrose café – BS8

Nestled away in a corner of Clifton village,  Primrose is a quaint little café that are simply amazing at all things brunch. If there is an egg dish you love, this humble little café will make it to perfection. I particularly love their eggs benedict, the hollandaise sauce is really the best I’ve had!  A great spot in the summer and springs months as they are situated perfectly for sitting outside and watching the world go by.

The Bristolian Café – BS6

This welcoming little café located on Picton Street is a great choice for vegetarians and vegans as they provide a mixed menu full of alternative to meat options, think scrambled tofu and vegan sausage. However, what makes this place so amazing is that they also serve up a meaty breakfast that any carnivore will love!  So if your mates are a mixed bag of vegans, veggies and meat eaters this place will be able cater for the lot of you!
